One perk of being a family photographer in Huntsville is scouting out new locations for sessions. Scott’s Orchard in Hazel Green, Alabama is quickly becoming a favorite for more than just the apple picking. It’s a Fall favorite for Huntsville families but it has just as much to offer in the spring!
Spring + Family Portraits
This 116-year-old living farm has been part of the Scott’s Orchard family for five generations. With 1,200 acres of Farmland, it boasts beautiful views and family-friendly activities year-round.
Their 50 acres of peach trees bloom for a few weeks every March and their beautiful pink blossoms can make a gorgeous backdrop for family portraits. We just have to request an appointment ahead of time! Depending on the season, your family can enjoy picking peaches or apples together after your session. It all makes for the perfect family day if you ask me!
By mid-June, peaches are growing and ready to pick but late summer varieties are worth the wait.
Fall + Something for Everyone
Not to be outdone, the apple trees flower in early April. With snowy white blooms, they’re just about as close to snow as we’ll see here in Alabama. From September through the end of October, those white blooms will mature to apples and fill the branches. You can stop by to pick your own and enjoy an apple cider slushie (the best!). Or try apple cider donuts made fresh on weekends. There’s even an inflatable apple to jump in while you wait your turn for a trike to pedal.
They have a gift shop for local honey, peach salsa, and all kinds of goodies to round out your holiday shopping. It’s a win for everyone!
