Are you looking for something fun to do with the kids this weekend? Huntsville has some wonderful engaging and entertaining places to visit. Here are a few of our favorites!
Early Works Museum: First, this hands-on museum is a top attraction for families with young children. Kids can dress up in different costumes and pretend to be different occupations. Surprisingly, there is a boat measuring 46 feet that children to climb on and play.
Burritt on the Mountain: Secondly, on the top of Monte Sano is a beautiful estate that overlooks the city of Huntsville. Also, the 19th century mansion along with its 167 acres hosts educational camps for children. Kids will get to learn about that time-period through different workshops they offer at the property. Knitting, glass working, painting, wood-burning, and pottery are a few of the many workshops they offer!
Science Highlights in Huntsville
Space & Rocket Center: As the largest space museum, this center has a large range of interactive and engaging exhibits for kids of all ages. Additionally, the simulators, educational programs, and changing exhibits, made the membership worthwhile for our family! We’ve been to many science and space centers around the country, and this is by far one the best!
Cook’s Museum: Children get to walk through different ecosystems and habitats. There are interactive rooms, like the bat cave, along with living animals. Also, the rocks and mineral display is spectacular along with the space exhibit. The children loved trying to pick up a meteoroid that landed in Alabama! In conclusion, the most educational aspect of our visits has been the museum workers stationed at each exhibit that would engage with my children and share interesting lessons with them!
Huntsville Botanical Garden: Lastly, in the heart of the city is an exceptional garden. There is a butterfly house, dino dig site, and storybook garden. Undeniably, the nature trails, Japanese garden, and water garden are a beautiful sight. Nevertheless, some exciting festivals they offer are the Huntsville Blooms, Galaxy of Lights, and Scarecrow Trail.
