One year baby portraits are one of my favorite sessions to photograph! Usually, I’ve know these little ones since they were in their mommy’s tummy and I’ve watched them grow over the year! By the time they come for their one year session, they are walking (sometimes, running!) and their personalities are shinning! I wanted to answer a few commonly asked questions about 1 year sessions!
Do you recommend outdoor or indoor?
Both! I truly love both! I love the classic look of a studio session, but I also love the natural look outdoors. If the weather is cold, I always recommend the studio, as little ones are just happier when they are warm (aren’t we all!)
How many outfits do we bring?
I recommend 3-4 easy outfits for 1 year session. One outfit for family photos that will coordinate well with the family. 1-2 outfits for individual photos. I personally love little overalls for boys like the ones pictured here! Then we choose one outfit for their cake eating portion. They can be a little tutu or romper for the girls and even just a diaper cover for the boys.
Do you provide the cake?
Yes! I take care of bringing a cake and topper. I prefer vanilla cakes with whipped icing for the little ones dig into! If you prefer something special you are always more than welcome to bring it!
How long do the sessions last?
Usually 1 hour – that is just how long a little ones last. We keep things moving and typically have 45-60 photos in your final gallery.
How to get good smiles from my little one?
I’ve been working with kids for over 20 years and I have lots of ideas to try and I almost always find a way to get those authentic smiles. I do recommend choosing a time of date that is best for your little one. Morning or evening can make a big difference and taking in consideration their nap and eating schedule.
